Our Big Idea Center team is growing! Meet Maansi Shah, our Student Outreach & Engagement Assistant! In her role, Maansi will help us with planning and executing I+E Explore events, creating/maintaining Big Idea Center partnerships with internal and external stakeholders, and raising awareness of the center’s offerings to various outlets on Pitt's campus and beyond. - Tell us about yourself! What’s your background?
Hi, I’m Maansi! I’m a sophomore from Pittsburgh, PA. I’m studying Global Management with a certificate in Leadership and Ethics. I’m also involved in Phi Chi Theta and Enactus here at Pitt.
- Why did you choose global management as your major?
I really liked the idea of being able to work abroad or being able to work for companies that are based in different countries. It’s also interesting to understand how businesses work in conjunction with the US and how they operate differently as well.
- What are you looking forward to while working at the Big Idea Center?
I’m really passionate about entrepreneurship so this was a great opportunity for me to get more involved in this area. I hope that I can potentially find a great solution to a problem that can eventually be developed into a business idea. I’m also looking forward to connecting with others that are just as excited about entrepreneurship as I am.
- What are your favorite things about Pitt?
I love Fuku Tea. My go-to is passion fruit green tea with mango popping boba. I also love hammocking in Schenley or the Cathy Lawn on a nice sunny day. I also love how close Shadyside and Downtown are from campus!
- Do you have any hobbies?
I used to play tennis, and I love to play when I’m free. I also love to bake as well and am always experimenting with new ways to bake without eggs.
- If you could have dinner with any entrepreneur/inventor, dead or alive, who would it be and why?
I would love to have dinner with Whitney Herd, the Founder and CEO of the online dating platform Bumble. Her story is so inspiring to me and it shows just how successful women can be in such a male-dominated area.
- Fun facts about you:
- I was featured on the Big Idea Blog this past summer talking about my entrepreneurial endeavors around baking! Go check it out if you haven’t already! You can read my full blog article here.
- My favorite color is lilac!
- Your favorite things in Pittsburgh:
- Walking on the North Shore
- Shopping at The Waterfront
- Exploring new restaurants in Shadyside
