If you are new to innovation and entrepreneurship at the University of Pittsburgh, or just need a primer on particular parts of the innovation commercialization process, the Innovation Institute has created a new Inventor’s Guide to assist you.
The guide provides basic information about each step of the journey from the classroom or lab to the market, from submitting an invention disclosure, to intellectual property protection, licensing and startup formation and more.
Arranged in a convenient “accordion” format, users can quickly get to information about any step of the commercialization process they are interested in learning more about. A glossary of frequently used terms in the process and a link to a webinar focusing on the early stages of the commercialization process featuring Pitt innovators who have successfully navigated the journey are included.
Feel free to explore! The guide is a "living" document, so please feel free to offer suggestions on areas where you may need clarification or have additional questions about the IP or commercialization process and we would be happy to update the guide.
As always, if you have questions or would like to consult an Innovation Institute staff member about any step of the process, contact us at innovate@pitt.edu.
